Learn to Skate USA is a program designed to give new skaters the very best start in discovering a new sport, whether it be hockey, figure skating or speed skating. This is the place to start!

Here at PBIW, we offer 4-week courses during the summer and 8-week courses during the winter months.

 

YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE attending the first class with Learn to Skate USA, please visit this PAGE to register. There is an annual fee of $12 for registration with  www.learntoskateusa.com 

 

​Frequently Asked Questions:

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE READY FOR MY FIRST LESSON?

Arrive at the rink 30 mins before class to fill out paperwork, get sized for skates, lace-up and be ready for the pre-class warm-up. Use the restroom before class. We suggest that skaters bring warm clothing. Helmets (not provided) are necessary for beginners at levels Snowplow 1 through Basic 2. We request that parents watch from the stands or the concessions area.

 

IF I MISS A CLASS DO I GET A REFUND OR MAKE-UP CLASS?

PBIW does not offer refunds for the Skate School program. 

 

WHEN DO I PAY?

You may pay in person at the front desk or by phone prior to arriving for your first lesson. Application forms are always available in our lobby area.

In addition to the course fee, skaters must register with Learn to Skate USA. We ask that skaters register BEFORE attending their first class. There is a once annual fee of $12 for registration – please visit www.learntoskateusa.com for information and registration. This membership includes:

  • Official Basic Skills membership card

  • Basic Skills record book and stickers

  • General sports accident insurance coverage

  • Year patch, denoting membership year

  • Participation in lessons and skill assessments associated with the program

  • Opportunity to compete and perform in approved events

  • Basic Skills Edition of SKATING magazine
